CPAf Begins Search for New Dean as Dean Baconguis Ends Term

As part of the ongoing search for the new Dean of the UPLB College of Public Affairs and Development (CPAf), the Search Committee led by Prof. Nathaniel C. Bantayan, Ph.D., the Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension, facilitated the presentation of accomplishment of the incumbent Dean and the presentation of visions and plans of the nominees.

Nearing the end of her term as the CPAf Dean on 25 February 2024, Prof. Rowena DT. Baconguis, Ph.D. presented CPAf’s accomplishments during her term on 2 February 2024 at the CPAf Rooms 303-304 and via Zoom.

The call for nominations was then set into motion resulting in two nominations – Assist. Prof. Aileen V. Lapitan, Ph.D. of the CPAf-Center for Strategic Planning and Policy Studies (CSPPS) and Prof. Albert D. Madrigal, Ph.D., formerly associated with the Pamantasan ng Cabuyao (PnC). They presented their visions, plans, programs, and priorities for CPAf on 12 February 2024 at the CPAf Rooms 303-304 and via Zoom.

Assist. Prof. Lapitan is a faculty member of the CPAf Institute for Governance and Rural Development and currently sits as the CSPPS Director. She shared that CPAf is ready for a new chapter that comes with new stories of LEAPS: Learning innovations; Excellence; Agility; Partnerships; and Sustainability.

Prof. Madrigal, on the other hand, is a CPAf alumnus and the former PnC President. He said that the seven core values: participation; excellence; nurturing; innovation; respect in diversity; leadership and followership; and community engagement guide his vision, mission, and strategic plans for the College.

The Search Committee is set to conduct interviews with the CPAf constituents and the nominees. Information gathered from the whole process will be submitted as a report to the Office of the Chancellor by 15 February 2024.

The college anticipates the appointment of the new Dean by March, 2024. (MKMBuot)
