UPLB GSSC Hosts 10th UPLB Student Legislative Chamber at CPAf

The UPLB College of Public Affairs and Development (CPAf), through the initiative of the UPLB Graduate School Student Council, welcomed the student leaders of UPLB in their conduct of the 10th UPLB Student Legislative Chamber on March 11, 2024 at the CPAf Rooms 303-304.

In this event, the Student Legislative Chamber headed by the University Student Council Chair, Gio Olivar, together with the various UPLB Student Councils aimed to strengthen various campaigns and programs for the student body and various sectors outside the University. This follows Article VI, Section 2 of the 1984 UPLB Student Councils Constitution that states that the “Student Legislative Chamber shall: serve as the highest policy-making body of the UPLB Student Councils; serve as a constitutional body; and coordinate the programs of the various Student Councils.”

UPLB GSSC Chair and CPAf Teaching Fellow, John Vincent Bucal, with the support of CPAf Dean, Dr. Aileen V. Lapitan and the Graduate School Dean, Dr. Jomar F. Rabajante, took the lead in facilitating the event which was attended by 57 student leaders of UPLB as well as two student media partners— the UPLB Perspective and Tanglaw.

Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs (Student Affairs) graces 10th SLC at CPAf

The Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs (Student Affairs), Ms. Ma. Shari Niña Oliqiono  visited CPAf to attend the 10th UPLB Student Legislative Chamber. Aside from meeting with the USC Chair to discuss immediate and emerging concerns of the students, AVP Oliquiono also met with the CPAf Dean, Dr. Aileen V. Lapitan together with the Knowledge Management Office Head, Dr. Maria Luz L. Malabayabas, and UPLB GSSC Chair and CPAf Teaching Fellow, John Vincent Bucal. They discussed the present activities of the college that support undergraduate and graduate student activities, as well as some future plans and activities that promote the students and faculty welfare. 

Just like the other delegates, this is AVP Oliquiono’s first time to visit the college. She showed interest in enrolling in a graduate program of CPAf.
