Agustin L. Arcenas

Dr. Agustin L. Arcenas is the Director of the Community Innovations Studies Center (CISC) and Associate Professor at the Institute of Governance and Rural Development (IGRD) in UP-Los Baños, under the College of Public Affairs and Development (CPAf). Dr. Arcenas had been a faculty member of the School of Economics in U.P.-Diliman for 17 years before transferring to UPLB in 2022.

Prior to joining UP in 2005 he worked as an environmental economist in the (then) Environment Department of the World Bank in Washington, D.C. (USA), and was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Michigan State University. Since moving back to the Philippines, Dr. Arcenas has been working on and has written about various issues on environmental and natural resource management, economics of pollution and natural resources management, resource valuation, climate change, environmental health, poverty, and different aspects of development. His current areas of interest and expertise are environmental and natural resource economics, impact analysis, benefit-cost analysis, economic valuation, environmental health issues, climate change, and poverty issues.

Education

Dr. Agustin L. Arcenas holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics specializing in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics at Michigan State University, and an MS in Applied Economics at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, both in the United States. He graduated with BA Economics (cum laude) degree from the School of Economics in UP-Diliman.
