Center for Strategic Planning and Policy Studies (CSPPS) is geared towards generating science-based, timely and objective policy research programs on the cross-cutting and inter-connected community concerns for public policy decision-making. CPAf has and is currently conducting most of the policy research topics listed below in collaboration with the various colleges at the UPLB, other state colleges and universities, regional field units of the Department of Agriculture, and local government units.
- The topics under the Agricultural Policy and Sustainability theme include agricultural production and productivity; climate change and agriculture; food safety; agricultural extension, and land management and administration.
- Social and Institutional Policy focuses on issues relating to the responsiveness and effectiveness of government and non-government institutions in the country on the delivery of public services. This area is particularly crucial for a “policy center” that is oriented towards enhancement of the well-being and the progressive enrichment of the quality of people’s lives. Specifically, the social policy issues to be covered are on population, health, education, and social services including social protection, in rural communities.
- Science and Technology Policy will work inter-dependently with the other Center’s programs. Initiatives in sector’s concerns will focus on the S&T components (i.e., research and development or R&D; technical and analytical services; infrastructure support to include human resource development of S&T personnel and intellectual property protection; knowledge-information-technology dissemination and utilization) in the following dynamic and evolving niches: S&T Framework Formulation, Technology Evaluation System, Technology Utilization and Commercialization.
