Forty farmers from Barangays Batang and Tampadong in Pamplona, Camarines Sur graduated in the Climate Field School (CFS) last March 10, 2017. The graduation, held in Barangay Veneracion, was one of the culminating activities of the Collaborative Research Development, and Extension Services Phase 2 (CRDES) project.

From August 2016 to March 2017, two CFS were held weekly in Barangays Batang and Tampadong. The CFS yielded 15 graduates in Barangay Batang and 25 in Barangay Tampadong, which were composed of farmers, and Grades 9 and 10 students of Don Mariano C. Veneracion National High School.

During the graduation ceremony, Hon. Augustus Caesar M. Cruz III, Municipal Mayor of Pamplona, talked about two projects: the LGU project on providing vegetable seeds to farmers, and the irrigation project that provided potable water for the barangays during water scarcity. Mr. Danilo J. Lalican of UPLB, study leader of the CRDES project, encouraged the CFS graduates to share their learning from the CFS to other farmers. He also said that farmers should not underestimate themselves because they are the ones who feed the world.

Two farmer-cooperators of Barangays Batang and Tampadong also shared their impressions and their experiences about the CFS. The agricultural technicians of Pamplona, who served as resource persons during the CFS, were also recognized during the event. (by Ruth Anne T. Ruelos)
