VC Bello presents end-of-term report

Vice Chancellor (VC) Rolando T. Bello reported on January 6, 2021 CPAf’s accomplishments during his term as Dean. The presentation was held at CPAf Rooms 303-304 and livestreamed on Zoom.
VC Bello’s 3-year appointment as Dean (August 1, 2018-31 July 2021) was cut short with his appointment as Vice Chancellor for Administration of UPLB effective November 1, 2020. VC Bello had served twice as CPAf Dean, with his first term from December 1, 2003 to November 30, 2006.
His presentation covered the projects and activities under the four key strategies: strengthen public service and research agenda, package/market research and extension projects, establish alliance/partnership with other research academic institutions, and improve IT system. These strategies were identified during the 2018 CPAf Planning Workshop.
Among the major activities of the College he mentioned were the First International Conference on Governance and Development, 5th Asia Future Conference with the Sekiguchi Global Research Association, and Public Procurement Specialist Certification Course. He also reported the regular activities of CPAf units such as policy seminars and learning events, and the various extension activities of research projects. Moreover, he recognized students’ activities and alumni’s contributions to CPAf and support to UPLB students during the pandemic.
Linkages with different institutions, various equipment acquired, and improvements made to offices were also presented. VC Bello also shared the update on the proposed renovation of the College Library. He also mentioned the ongoing construction of the CPAf auditorium and renovation of the Community Innovations Studies Center. Lastly, he briefly showed the data on enrollment, graduation, research, publications, and paper presentations.

In his concluding message, VC Bello noted that there are available resources. “It is just a matter of managing and utilizing [them] efficiently,” he noted.

VC Bello particularly acknowledged the human resources of CPAf and their collective action. “My report today is not my report, but our report,” he said.
The presentation of the end-of-term report is part of the ongoing activities for the search for the new dean of CPAf. The search committee headed by Dr. Merdelyn T. Caasi-Lit, vice chancellor for research and extension, together with the CPAf ExeCom and selected CPAf staff, attended the physical set up. Other CPAf faculty and staff joined through the Zoom meeting.
