The keynote panel focused on the topic “Inclusive Development: Ensuring Equitable Benefit and Voice.” Prof. Alinsunurin pitched in the issue on financial inclusion and its gendered impacts, focusing on understanding household decision-making through financial diaries. She emphasized that exclusion is not created equal, and inclusive financial systems should also account for intersectional factors. On the other hand, Dr. Pertiwi discussed ways to better address the needs of the people with disabilities in development in Indonesia, and Dr. Walters discussed systems thinking and balance of power dynamics based on his work in Africa. Dr. Opdyke, who provided the synthesis, challenged the professionals working in development on the methods used on the field matter and suggested they reflect on the institutions that shape the actions on the ground.
