CPAf Interns Visit DOST-PCAARRD for Knowledge Management and ICT Study Tour

Eight student interns from the College of Public Affairs and Development (CPAf) participated in a study tour organized and facilitated by CPAf’s Knowledge Management Office (KMO) and the Management Information Systems Division (MISD) of the Department of Science and Technology Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) on April 8, 2025.

The visit aimed to foster a deeper understanding on how technology and knowledge management support research, education, and development initiatives. The interns, all Computer Science students from Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU), were given an overview of DOST–PCAARRD’s knowledge management strategies and information systems infrastructure and operations.

Dr. Richard E. Amansec, Director of DOST–PCAARRD’s MISD, led the presentation on DOST-PCAARRD’s KM and ICT systems. Ms. Marielle J. Pasuquin, Science Research Specialist II, discussed the agency’s ICT infrastructure, while Ms. Cecilia B. Leaño, Senior Science Research Specialist, presented the overview and demonstrated the DOST–PCAARRD’s information systems. The program was hosted by Ms. Danellie Joy O. Medina, Science Research Specialist II, who also handled the coordination and logistics of the visit along with Ms. Christie A. Surara, MISD’s Science Research Specialist I.

The visit also entailed a guided tour of relevant facilities which included DOST–PCAARRD’s Innovation and Technology Center (DPITC), Technology Business and Partnership Hub, System Development and Database Management Unit, and E- Library.

The student interns were joined by Mr. Lauro Atienza, University Extension Specialist I of CPAf – KMO and internship program coordinator, and Ms. Michiko Buot and Ms. Charlene Mina, University Researchers. The internship program of the LSPU students started in February and will last for 500 hours. Currently, the student interns are tasked to assist the different units of CPAf in IT-related and multimedia activities.
