The CPAf Graduate Students Association in its 15th year hosted the annual ACE CPAf: Acing Comprehensive Examinations 2024, on September 10, 2024. The event, held via zoom, brought together all 45 comprehensive examination takers from the eight programs offered by CPAf.
They learned some tips from recent ‘compre’ takers – Ms. Maria Stella Noche, CPAf Teaching Fellow and PhD Development Studies student and Mr. Byron Amadeus Cayabyab, CPAf alumnus and MS Extension Education graduate. The future ‘compre’ takers also learned some insider information and tips from the perspective of a faculty – Assoc. Prof. Agustin Arcenas, Ph.D., the Director of the Community Innovations Studies Center of CPAf.
The speakers highlighted the importance of having enough dedicated time to prepare and review with co-takers, collaboration among ‘compre’ takers by program, maintaining good health, practicing good writing skills, and time management among others.
During the open forum, Asst. Prof. Mayo Grace Amit, the Director of the Institute for Governance and Rural Development of CPAf, reiterated the essence of reading the Student Handbook of the UPLB Graduate School as it will guide new and old students on their graduate school milestones, as well as processes that they need to accomplish to finish the program. Additionally, her closing remarks highlighted the core principles of UP which are Honor, Excellence, and Service that everyone should embody not only when taking the comprehensive examinations but as part of their practice in their respective fields, work, and life.
Also present during the event were Asst. Prof. Miriam Caryl Carada, adviser of CPAf GSA and the officers of the GSA.
