The 2024 CPAf Distinguished Alumni, Dr. Budi Guntoro (MS Community Development, 2000) and Dr. Tanpichai Prasong (PhD Agricultural Education, 1998), received their plaques of recognition during the 106th UPLB Loyalty Day and Alumni Homecoming Awarding Ceremony on October 8, 2024 at the Charles Fuller Baker Memorial Hall, UPLB.
Dr. Budi Guntoro
Distinguished Alumni for Poverty Alleviation and Human Development
Dr. Guntoro is the current Dean of the Faculty of Animal Science Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia. Even with his administrative roles, teaching responsibilities at the Department of Livestock Socio-Economics, and other functions, Dr. Guntoro still dedicates time for community service.
True to his roots in CPAf, Dr. Guntoro poured into community service at the village, province, and national levels in Indonesia. He has led several initiatives aimed at empowering farmers and improving livelihoods in Indonesia. He led the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) programs which significantly empowered the farmers to increase their income as well as get grants. He also initiated a poverty eradication program that assisted the farmers in production, post-harvest, and marketing among numerous others that bore lasting impact to both farmers and communities.
Dr. Tanpichai Prasong
Distinguished Alumni for Education Innovation
Dr. Prasong has dedicated his professional teaching career to the academic and practical quality enrichment of agricultural educational provision at both university and community levels. He then founded the “Educational Farm” where the integration of theory and practice has been its philosophical basis for encouraging students to learn experientially, authentically, and productively.
Dr. Prasong is an Associate Professor serving as the senior academic staff of the Department of Human Resource and Community Development, Faculty of Education and Development Sciences, at Kamphaeng Saen Campus of Kasetsart University. He pursued a PhD in Agricultural Education in UPLB under the scholarship scheme offered by the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA).
Dr. Guntoro and Dr. Prasong also graced the CPAf Alumni Forum 2024 and shared their insights on advancing agricultural and community development through lifelong learning on October 7, 2024 at the CPAf Rooms 303-304. Alumni, students, and faculty members, researchers, and administrative staff actively participated in the said forum.
